I’m laying vinyl in a small 4×6 room. I should have just laid the new stuff on the old stuff but I made the mistake of trying to pull it up. I have tore up a small area but I don’t want to continue this. How can I repair the small section I tore up without pulling up the whole thing? Can I just place another precisely cut piece of vinyl in that section then cover the whole thing with the new sheet?

This was more a repair than an improvement since my condo is built right on the slab and I HAVE to cover the floors with something. The old carpet & vinyl were 20 years old and basically in tatters. I’d like to be able to deduct the entire cost in one year rather than depreciate it, if that’s possible?
I used builder’s-grade carpeting and vinyl flooring and the total cost for the whole job was less than ,000.

I had new vinyl floors put in my bathroom today and now the toilet rocks so bad that we are not able to use it. The installer told me I needed to call a plumber because the toilet’s drain pipe was not installed correctly when my house was built and he is not responsible for it. I had no problems before…. What could have happened to make this happen? Is the floor installer responsible?
He works for Lowes and we paid before the materials were ordered.

I have refinished a dirt floor in my basement several years ago by having concrete put in over the dirt floor and vinyl floorcovering over the concrete. However, a floor leveler has worked its way up through the concrete and is pushing up the vinyl flooring. HELP!
